Bologna to Rome September 2020.
Over the past few years I have witnessed friends and family affected by Cancer, some surviving, others less fortunate. Both my parents passed away as a result of Cancer. Whilst my dad was alive I convinced him to come with me to The Oasis (Macmillan Jersey’s drop in centre) in St Helier, initially he was apprehensive as he wasn’t sure what help they could provide, he also felt that there were people who deserved their service more than he did, (despite having survived 4 different types of cancer and losing his wife to cancer just two months prior). Whilst at the Oasis he felt comfortable enough to express how he felt, opening up about his fears and concerns for the future. I was also lucky enough to use their services.
As diagnosis rates increase year on year, current statistics indicate I in 2 of us will receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in our lives. Therefore at some point in the future I or someone close will need to call on the services of Macmillan Jersey and I want to give a little back.
I have therefore signed up to ride over 500km over 5 day, from Bologna to Rome in September 2020. I am not a cyclist and probably have bitten off more than I can chew, although I am up for the challenge. Each time I am struggling to get up that hill I am going to dig deep and think of my folks and how they just got on with it.
I would really appreciate it if you would be happy to make a donation in order for me to reach my £2,000 target, every penny of which will go to Macmillan Jersey. (The cost of the trip is funded by participants)
The smallest donation will make a big difference
