Macmillan Cycle Challenge

Why I’m doing this challenge?
My husband Alan was diagnosed with neck cancer in May 2019 and our entire world was flipped upside down. Those first few days we felt overwhelmed and scared, we had no idea what to do .. should we tell our children, family, friends… What about work (Alan is self employed) how we would cope financially, what would the treatment entail..
Thankfully with the support of Macmillan Jersey, our friends and family, who were incredibly kind, generous and supportive during Alan’s treatment, we made it. Alan continues to have regular scans, and so far so good. There are however still moments of anxiety and tears waiting for the results of the 6 monthly scans but I guess that is normal and to be expected.
So, after the experience we had, I decided what better way to thank Macmillan Jersey and help support other families who find themselves in the same situation, was for me to sign up to The Macmillan Cycle challenge, which is 500KM over 5 days from Bologna to Rome. It wasn’t an easy decision and I know it will be a challenge, but then I thought about my family and friends who have fought Cancer and survived and if they can fight this awful disease then I can do this challenge so a big shout out to my Mum, Helen, Caroline and Danny .. I’m doing this for you ..
And in memory of Mac McDermid, Lynn Spacie and Frank Spacie that lost their brave courageous battle against Cancer.
My target is to raise £2K for Macmillan Jersey so any donations will be greatly appreciated. I had planned to do some fundraising events to raise money but covid continues to get in the way!
Thanks for your support
