World Cancer Day

CTCG

Macmillan Jersey is working in collaboration with the Jersey Cancer Support Network, which consists of local cancer charities and Government of Jersey departments to put on a range of talks this World Cancer Day (4th February 2022) at the Santander Work Café.

The aim is to provide information for cancer patients, their family/friends, and the public – including wider health care professionals.

Pam Aubert – Service Manager at Macmillan Jersey said ‘We are coming together with other local charities for World Cancer Day to raise awareness of the support available in Jersey for people affected by cancer. We hope people can attend the pop-up event to see a presentation or get some information that may help them, or someone they know. 1 in 2 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’ in their lifetime. We are all doing our bit to help close the care gap here in Jersey with the support of the Cancer Network.’

The theme for this year’s World Cancer Day is “Closing the Care Gap” – highlighting the equity gap and accessibility issues that can negatively affect care.

The charity will also be opening the doors of The Oasis – Macmillan Jersey’s cancer support and wellbeing centre at The Lido Medical Centre, to allow members of the public a chance to view and talk about the services offered to them.

To further raise awareness, Fort Regent will be lit up Orange for the day!
